Abstract

Entre varios productos nutricionales sumamente estudiados y puestos a prueba bajo todo tipo de circunstancias, se encuentran las bebidas deportivas que, debido a su aporte de carbohidratos, electrolitos y agua, logran mejorar el rendimiento en forma significativa. Recientemente se ha empezado a evaluar más sistemáticamente otra bebida tradicional, la leche, como posible bebida deportiva. La leche podría tener distintas funciones relacionadas con el ejercicio, a saber: servir como hidratante durante el ejercicio, funcionar como posible suplemento proteico para favorecer la síntesis de tejido muscular, funcionar como hidratante post-ejercicio, y servir como fuente de carbohidratos y proteína para promover la recuperación de los depósitos de glucógeno muscular.
