ESTIMACIÓN Y CAUSAS DE DIFERENCIAS SALARIALES ENTRE PROFESIONALES EN TRES INSTITUCIONES COSTARRICENSES

Abstract

El presente estudio se dirigió a estimar las diferencias salariales y sus posibles causas, entre los hombres y las mujeres profesionales en tres instituciones costarricenses. La información se obtuvo encuestando a 127 profesionales que laboraban en esas instituciones durante el primer semestre del 2010.La investigación reveló que existen diferencias salariales que se pueden explicar por: la presencia de niños en el hogar, la capacitación, las posibilidades de ascenso y las interrupciones laborales. Aunque los resultados sólo son relevantes para la situación en las tres instituciones en estudio; permiten tomar conciencia de la importancia del tema a nivel nacional y las implicaciones dentro del mercado para el sector femenino.
