El presente ensayo trata sobre el quehacer de la Unidad de Apoyo a la Docencia Mediada con Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicación (METICS), de la Universidad de Costa Rica. Más allá de una simple descripción, se ofrece el contexto de su origen, así como las bases conceptuales que fundamentan su quehacer, destacando principalmente en el “acompañamiento en la docencia” como estrategia y en la forma cómo esta se lleva a cabo. Para ello, se describe el tipo de actividades que se realizan, su organización y su desarrollo, complementando con algunos datos numéricos. Para finalizar se ofrece una síntesis y reflexiones finales, orientadas a establecer algunos retos e inquietudes con miras al futuro inmediato y a largo plazo. This essay discusses the work of the Office of Information and Communication Technology Support for Teaching (METICS), University of Costa Rica. It provides contextual and conceptual aspects, emphasizing on the "support for teaching" as a strategy, showing how this is done. It also describes the activities performed, its planning and development, as well as some additional data. The conclusions suggest challenges and concerns for the near and long term future.
