AGROECOLOGÍA: ATRIBUTOS DE SUSTENTABILIDAD

Abstract

Las practicas agroproductivas convencionales provoca una profunda crisis ecológica a escala planetaria, generando que la ciencia y científicos se enfrenten a nuevos retos, como la necesidad de evaluar ecológicamente, la eficiencia de sistemas de producción rural (agricultura, ganadería, silvicultura y pesca) en un contexto de sustentabilidad. La agroecología, como enfoque ecológico del proceso agrícola, no solo abarca la producción de alimentos; sino, que toma en cuenta los aspectos culturales, sociales y económicos, que se relacionan e influyen en la producción. Así, situados como dos modos radicalmente diferentes de apropiación del ecosistema, el modo agrario tradicional (indígena, campesino) y el modo agroindustrial conforman las dos maneras de concebir, manejar y utilizar los agroecosistemas. La distinción de estos dos modos contrastantes, se evidencian mediante criterios básicos de carácter ecológico, energético, económico, agrario, cognitivo y cultural; que conforman nueves atributos.
