En este trabajo se discute sobre la ciudad fragmentada, la ciudad que se habita hoy día, pues el término remite a las ciudades de fines del siglo XX e inicios del XXI. Se discute la forma en que el Gran Área Metropolitana de Costa Rica se ha desarrollado hasta inicios del siglo XXI, lo cual promueve la desigualdad y la formación de gated communities.
This article analyses the fragmented city. It argues that the formation of the Great Metropolitan Area (GAM, acronym for Spanish name) has promoted inequality and the formation of gated communities.
