El artículo trata sobre una de las comedias menos conocidas de Lope de Vega, El Nuevo Mundo descubierto porCristóbal Colón. Es una obra de calidad desigual, con gran condensación temporal, pues pretende abarcar todo elproceso histórico del descubrimiento. Las escenas en las cortes española y portuguesa son bastante tópicas, perola descripción de la inocente mentalidad de los indios es muy original y tiene gran frescura e interés teatral.Palabras claves: Colón, descubrimiento, América, indios, colonización.
