Abstract

Presentamos una pincelada del significado de la fiesta popular en Costa Rica y sus actividades más tradicionales, tomando como referencia las actividades desarrolladas predominantemente en el Valle Central. Desde la óptica de fiesta tradicional, la misma se caracteriza por ser un espacio comunitario que propicia la participación, la convivencia social, la expresión cultural y gastronómica. Se promueve la identidad local, regional y nacional, se fortalece el sentido de pertenencia que tienen las personas con las costumbres y tradiciones, y se contrapone con la globalización que ha desdibujado las fronteras y ha impactado de múltiples formas a la sociedad.
