Mucormicosis en la actualidad

Abstract

La presente disertación corresponde a una revisión bibliográfica sobre la mucormicosis en la actualidad. Dicha exploración inicia con la descripción de la enfermedad y los agentes causales, así como la sinonimia y la historia de dicho padecimiento. Adicionalmente, se incluyen temas como la epidemiología y distribución geográfica, así como las vías de entrada y factores predisponentes como la diabetes mellitus y malignidades hematológicas. Se describe la patogénesis, factores de virulencia asociados, las formas clínicas de la enfermedad con sus respectivas manifestaciones, así como la respuesta inmune que se desarrolla en el hospedero. Por último, se describe lo encontrado en la literatura sobre los tópicos de diagnóstico clínico, radiológico y diagnóstico de laboratorio, además, del tratamiento contra la enfermedad, y las conclusiones del presente trabajo. Esta exposición procura compilar el conocimiento básico sobre esta micosis y los últimos avances científicos reportados en la literatura en el tema de la mucormicosis y sus agentes etiológicos.

This dissertation is a literature review on mucormycosis. This manuscripts begin with the description of the disease and the etiological agents, as well as the synonymy and history of the condition. In addition, topics such as epidemiology and geographic distribution, as well as routes of entry and predisposing factors such as Diabetes Mellitus and hematological malignancies, are included. The pathogenesis, associated virulence factors, the clinical forms of the disease with their respective manifestations, as well as the immune response that develops in the host are described. Finally, the findings in the literature on the topics of clinical, radiological and laboratory diagnosis, as well as the treatment of the disease, and the conclusions of this work are presented. This work seeks to compile the basic knowledge about this mycosis and the latest scientific advances reported in the literature on the subject of mucormycosis and its etiological agents.
