Abstract

La hipoacusia es la disminución de la percepción auditiva y puede constituir un importante problema de salud si aparece durante la infancia, con graves consecuencias para el desarrollo de una vida normal ya que el oído es imprescindible para desarrollar capacidades como el lenguaje y la comunicación. Por eso es muy importante detectar la hipoacusia en los primeros meses de vida del niño o niña, momento en el que se puede paliar su discapacidad auditiva utilizando terapias que, en algunos casos, pasan por implantar audífonos o bien adaptar implantes en el oído del niño o la niña para que la discapacidad auditiva sea la menor posible.
