Un ejemplo de relación campo-ciudad. La distribución espacial de los mosaicos romanos en Lusitania

Abstract

Nuestra propuesta es doble: por una parte analítica y por otra interpretativa, pero necesitada de un punto de partida que es el de la información. Sin embargo de gran importancia es el marco territorial a escoger antes de iniciar el ciclo de colecta de datos. Caben infinidad de opciones desde la unidad tipo país hasta la entidad administrativa menor, el término municipal. En el primer caso la cantidad de información se verá dificultada por el carácter selectivo con que anteriores investigaciones hayan llevado a cabo el estudio, y también por la diversidad, aspecto este que en última instancia permitirá un mayor contraste de tipologías, comportamientos diferentes y de residuos de culturas anteriores que dotarán de un contenido idiosincrático propio a cada zona. Metodológicamente la elección de este área amplia desde el punto de vista territorial comporta ventajas e inconvenientes. Por una parte permitirá ante el amplio rango de generalizaciones la creación de un modelo teórico que poder aplicar sobre áreas más restringidas territorialmente, pero por otra parte se presenta como el final del ciclo investigador, una puesta en común y síntesis de los estudios parciales previos con un profundo análisis de concordancias y de divergencias.
