This works intends to evaluate the importance of different practice and competition variables on the cognitive development of tennis players, specifically in the development of the declarative and procedural knowledge. To do so, two questionnaires have been used applied to 300 players (150 on the school level area, with no competition, and 150 on the federative area, with competition). The main outputs of this work show how active participation on competition supposes a learning element which predicts meaningfully the level of knowledge of tennis players, remarking active competition participation as a learning tool within intermediate expertise levels.
