Producción de maderas de calidad en Extremadura

Abstract

Desde hace relativamente pocos años se viene observando un tipo de producción inédito en Extremadura, se trata de la producción intensiva de maderas de calidad también llamadas maderas nobles, maderas latifoliadas y maderas duras. Éstas, a diferencia de las maderas procedentes de coníferas, tienen como principal destino la fabricación de muebles, tallas y piezas que en general alcanzan en los mercados precios muy superiores. En este capítulo, se analiza el cultivo de maderas de calidad en Extremadura; la superficie y especies plantadas, así como su sistema de producción y técnicas de cultivo. Extremadura por sus condiciones edafoclimáticas y la calidad de sus aguas dedicadas a regadío, es una zona de un grandísimo potencial para la producción de maderas nobles, precisamente por ello se han y están realizando plantaciones por parte de empresas y particulares por todas las zonas regables de la región.
