Infoentretenimiento y libertad negativa. La soberanía del espectador del infoentretenimiento global

Abstract

Este texto pretende examinar qué entendemos por soberanía del espectador televisivo y qué cambios ha sufrido ésta tras el proceso de neoliberalización del medio ocurrido a partir de la década de 1980. El germen de la globalización de los mercados radica en la aplicación de las teorías neoliberales a la política y a la economía. Según sus defensores, esa aplicación permitiría incrementar la liberta de elección del espectador. El valor de esa soberanía está íntimamente ligado al desarrollo del llamado infoentretenimiento, que pasa por ser la innovación más destacada tras la neoliberalización de la televisión. Aquí defendemos que tres décadas después de la implantación del neoliberalismo y la globalización, existen dudas fundadas al respecto de que este sistema haya fomentado la libertad y la soberanía del espectador.
