Riesgos en salud mental y variables de protección en estudiantes universitarios

Abstract

Se analiza la relación entre el riesgo de alteraciones emocionales o sintomatología emocional y variables sociodemográficas, académicas y personales (bienestar subjetivo, felicidad, engagement, emociones, satisfacción con la vida) de los estudiantes universitarios. Además, se pretende identificar variables predictoras del riesgo de sufrir alteraciones emocionales. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 461 alumnos de Ciencias de la Universidad de Extremadura. Los instrumentos empleados fueron el Cuestionario de Salud General de Goldberg (GHQ12), Escala de Felicidad Subjetiva de Lyubomirsky y Lepper y la Escala de Satisfacción con la vida (SWLS), la Escala de Afectos positivos y Negativos (PANAS), el Utrech Work Engagement Scale-Student (UWES-9S) y la Escala de Salud de Percepción General de Ware et al. Los resultados indican que más del 60% de los estudiantes presentan riesgo de sufrir alteraciones psicológicas. Los participantes se caracterizan por experimentar afectos positivos, se sienten moderadamente felices, satisfechos con sus vidas y con los estudios que están cursando. La salud mental se asocia al género y a los afectos negativos.
