This article analyzes the language of one of the creators of the humorous magazine, “El Jueves”. From the point of view of the contradiction which may arise between written and spoken language, shown in several studies, it can be seen that Ivá, the author of the stories of Makinavaja, manipulates and mixes up the slang words that he includes in the colloquial language. The language is analysed from morphological, syntactical and lexical points of view. This study reveals that Ivá is a good observer of the Spanish language, who knows how to handle the devices he uses, able to harmonize perfectly acceptable contradictions. The question that remains is whether Ivá has recorded his language from what he has heard, or rather that, as a creator, he has had an influence on the language heard in certain circles.
