Abstract

Today we find many therapies targeting institutionalized Third Age people specifically affected by Alzheimer's Disease, and most of them are intended to allow these users to benefit from the best possible quality of life within their circumstances. But not only family and therapists are responsible for carrying out these processes for improvement, but the animals have shown incredible skills to be opened to the world. Dog Assisted Therapy is proliferating increasingly as therapeutic activity in nursing homes and one of its most common applications stimulation of these people . We therefore consider the review of studies linking this form of therapeutic work with dogs assisted in institutionalized persons with Alzheimer 's Disease helpful . The conclusion is that research on the effectiveness of the Dog Assisted Therapy in general, and with this type of person in particular so far is limited and often based on qualitative observation. For all this we intend to continue to invest in this line of work and try to go for check in a more objective manner, whether or not the Dog Assisted Therapy leads to improved attitudes and integral development of persons with Alzheimer's Disease.
