Notas sobre psicologia positiva y familia

Abstract

The article offers a general overview of the topic 'family' as it is considered from the viewpoint of 'Positive psychology'. A cursory view of this movement since its beginnings in 1999 is included, and its status of 'quasiparadigm' is also discused. Some of its most notorious precedents are also taken into account – Aristote, K. Goldstein, A.Adler, V. Frankl, and A. Maslow-. Family structure and social status are analyzed, and the article then focuses upon those dimensions more closely related to positive factors - strenghts, virtues -- of human life. Current investigations are devising programs that will favor the creation of a positive clima in family, through the active training of parents and children, and the detection of their personal strenghts and resources. It concludes with a general appreciation of these contributions, that are incorporating some aspects not fully attended by psychologists in the past.
