Abstract

This investigation work emerges after years of personal interest in the field of women as a sports journalist, for that reason this article focus on the role they play in this workplace and the contextualization of the space in which they have entered. As a result, the characterization of the role of women in sports journalism is presented after years of adaptation to this field, resulting in the gradual change that the media has had by allowing a feminine participation that offers new perceptions of sports even though there is a male tradition in the field. The environment in which this phenomenon is located is in the Colombian culture, due to its conceptions of the feminine role in society this country has had a slower process of adaptation than other Hispanic countries in relation to women as a sports journalist (this will be developed in the content of this work). In addition, communication is seen as mediating these inclusion processes, although women journalists in the field of sports emerged decades ago, there has been a rise of women in recent years that present, comment and cover sports sources in different media and in different formats. Finally, the research results are based on the comparison of sources of information (both background and theories), through interviews that allow to collect opinions and experiences from Colombian sports journalists in the environment, allowing an analysis of the reality of the role played by Women today.
