Con base en elementos teóricos tomados de las experiencias sustentadas por algunos autores, se pretende resaltar la importancia de la auditoría en la mejora continua dentro de las organizaciones, sean estas, del sector privado o del sector público. En este trabajo se partirá de la evolución de la Auditoría, hasta llegar a una nueva concepción, mostrando que la auditoria afirma el proceso de mejora continua, ya que al realizar la labor de seguimiento a toda la estructura organizacional, se emite un informe que contiene conclusiones y recomendaciones. En estas conclusiones y recomendaciones se realzan los aspectos positivos y/o se advierte sobre los riesgos detectados, con el fin de que la Alta Dirección tome las medidas correspondientes en pro de lograr el cumplimiento de los objetivos institucionales.

Based on theoretical elements from the experiences supported by some authors, it is intended to highlight the importance of the audit on continuous improvement within organizations, be they from the private sector or the public sector. This work will be based on the evolution of the Audit, reaching a new concept, showing that the audit says the process of continuous improvement, since executing the follow-up to the entire organizational structure, a report containing is issued conclusions and recommendations.
