Abstract

It has been found according to revised that hypoxaemic states are often associated with increased levels of hematocrit, just as literature hematocrit levels vary according to age, gender and ethnicity, in contrast, knowing that obstructive sleep apnea, it is characterized by recurrent episodes of transient hypoxemia during sleep due to partial or complete obstruction to airflow. Based on the above, there is talk of increased levels of hematocrit and hemoglobin, suggesting that this increase tilts the balance towards hematocrit values and this modest something about the increase in hemoglobin seen in patients with disease classified as as severe apnea hypopnea index compared to those with mild to moderate disease given the degree of hypoxemia associated.
