Abstract

A bibliographic search was made of certain chemical processes for removing PCB compounds (PCB) such as heterogeneous catalytic oxidation with TiO2, oxidation Fenton-like, supercritical water oxidation, and catalytic dechlorination which were studied, determining that all the methodologies achieve a percentage of degradation higher of 75%, but the procedure of supercritical water oxidation achieves degradation efficiency percentages of 99% in very short reaction times, also it is one of the methodologies that achieve a high degree of mineralization the pollutant; the need for more research, optimization and development of such chemical processes but focused on natural matrices such as soil and water was observed, and it is important for expand methodologies applied to the efficient removal of PCBs and reduce its presence worldwide.
