Abstract

This study analyzes subsidence in the municipality of Ubalá, Cundinamarca, from 2016 to 2025 using differential SAR interferometry (DInSAR) techniques applied to Sentinel-1 images. Interferometric pairs of ascending and descending orbits were used to estimate vertical ground deformation and generate geometrically corrected displacement maps. The results show differential subsidence patterns in southeastern sectors of the municipality, associated with proximity to the Guavio reservoir and mining areas, with peak rates reaching significant values during certain periods. Areas of slight uplift were also identified in the northern part of the territory. The findings suggest that the interaction between hydraulic head, mining activity, and geomorphological conditions could explain the observed subsidence dynamics. This analysis provides valuable information for risk management and land-use planning in the municipality of Ubalá.
