Abstract

In Colombia, organic waste management is crucial in the commitment to the change from linear economy to a circular one where the waste goal must be zero in generation and final disposal, these strategies are born as a consequence of the environmental problems associated with the depletion of natural resources that, with it, develops social and economic problems not only in a country but globally. At present, not all organic waste is used in final disposal and is segregated in landfills, placing its useful life in crisis. This article presents the evaluation of the impact of national regulations on the management of organic waste in the UPZ of Chapinero through a regulatory analysis and field survey, derived from which barriers were identified in infrastructure, transport and storage since these wastes are of rapid decomposition followed by specific regulatory gaps for the management of organic waste followed by a limited scope of the strategies implemented in Bogotá.
