HydroBID is a high-tech digital tool created by the IDB to support the management and efficient planning of water resources. It is a freely available technology present in more than twenty-three countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. With this tool, hydrological simulations can be conducted using real data from each country or region. It also allows for the visualization and measurement of risks such as floods and droughts, to develop mitigation plans, rehabilitation, and water infrastructure projects, and assess the availability of water in basins, sub-basins, groundwater, surface water, forecast the effects of climate change, and how it affects this resource. These data enable the understanding of water availability for the creation of plans and solutions that improve its management. Through this tool, it is possible to estimate the availability of freshwater, plan reservoirs, simulate the interaction of surface and groundwater, evaluate the effects of climate change, and how the availability of this valuable resource is affected. Furthermore, it is possible to analyze water quality, sediment generation and transport as part of making informed decisions for the future of infrastructure projects with significant social and environmental impacts. This tool is important, and the main purpose of this research is to apply it in the formulation of different projects linked to water infrastructure works, in order to verify the behavior of watersheds, climate changes, and anthropogenic impacts, which are the direct causes of environmental damage, so that the cause can be determined in a timely manner and plans can be developed to mitigate them.
