Abstract

The annual debate over the increase in the minimum wage is an event that impacts the entire country, as well as all the economic actors that are affected by the decisions made around this issue. On the one hand, there are the labor unions that hope that the increase will be enough to meet their needs, maintain or even improve their quality of life, on the other hand there is the business association who affirm every year that the measure can affect their ability to hire staff since the exaggerated increase in salaries to be paid, plus the parafiscal contributions and the taxes they must pay for their assets may exceed their capacity and therefore reach the point of laying off staff during the year, rooting this in the increase unemployment and poverty rates in the country.
