Abstract

The Domestic wastewater is considered to be that which is produced as a by-product from the development of daily activities such as eating, cleaning and personal hygiene, and which is produced mostly in structures such as buildings and homes. Effect of anthropogenic activities in these waters are bacteria, acids, organic and inorganic matter, fats and oils, viruses, suspended solids, surfactants, among others. In this article it is of interest to investigate through a bibliographical consultation about the tensoactives or surfactants, which are contained in soaps and detergents. Since the use of these substances has possibly increased due to the protection measures against the pandemic and confinement by COVID19. The contribution of discharges with these substances cause aquatic ecosystems to be harmed, hence it is of great importance that these waters receive prior treatment before being discharged into surface water bodies. Finally, it should be noted that governments play a fundamental role in the creation of strategies to improve the physicochemical quality of the discharges that are carried out, since it is the government entities that are responsible for providing the sufficient structure to avoid affecting the water resource and that access to future generations is guaranteed.
