This article is written, as a result of the bibliographic review regarding indoor air quality (CAI), and the current legal regulations in Colombia, which, although progress has been made in monitoring and control of atmospheric air pollution, there is no evidence specific regulations for CAI, therefore, occupational health plays an important role in identifying the risks associated with poor CAI. Now, the poor quality of the indoor air or the so-called sick building syndrome, being one of the causes that negatively affects the health of people by spending more time in their homes, schools regardless of whether they are a student or worker, This poor air quality is due to the presence of substances that often go unnoticed, or to which attention is not paid, this is how concentrations of carbon monoxide CO, Radon, second-hand or tobacco smoke and presence of mold. Therefore, exposure in high concentrations to these substances can produce acute poisonings such as carbon monoxide or radon, which can lead to the death of people very quickly. In addition, continuous exposure to these risk factors can cause common illnesses such as: fatigue, nausea, headaches, respiratory illnesses. Heart disease, cancer, asthma, pneumonitis, allergic respiratory diseases, influencing the increase in absenteeism of students and workers in educational centers.
