Abstract

El glifosato es un herbicida de amplio espectro para el control de arvenses, maduración de granos y caña de azúcar. En Colombia, el glifosato es usado en la aspersión aérea de cultivos de coca y amapola. En varios países Andinos este herbicida se comercializa como Roundup® Activo. Debido al uso poco regulado y el posible efecto sobre otros organismos se estableció el efecto de concentraciones subletales de Roundup® Activo en el riñón de alevinos de Cachama blanca (Piaractus brachypomus). Se evaluaron tres tratamientos con tres replicas: T1: 0 mg/L, T2: 0,1 mg/L y T3: 1,0 mg/L, preparados a partir de la concentración de glifosato presente en el producto Roundup® Activo. En acuarios de 40 L, se colocaron 20 alevinos los cuales fueron expuestos durante 30 días. Después 4 peces por tratamiento fueron sacrificados para microscopía óptica de alta resolución. Se realizaron cortes de 1 µm y se tiñeron con azul de toluidina. El análisis histopatológico no reveló lesiones epiteliales tubulares ni cambios en el número y tamaño de los centros melanomacrofagos. No obstante se evidencio congestión vascular acompañada de una leve expansión glomerular (telangiectasia) y disminución del espacio de Bowman en el T3. Se puede inferir que las concentraciones subletales de Roundup® Activo evaluadas en este trabajo no afectan considerablemente el riñón de alevinos de P. brachypomus.
