Abstract

This research identifies, compares and analyzes the tax burden of the Colombian tax system, considering the two main taxes, the Income Tax and the Value Added Tax VAT. Three important aspects are taken as references that generate concern for taxpayers in their collection and redistribution. The first analyzes and compares the tax burden that Colombia has compared to other countries that belong to the OECD in order to establish whether the tax burden is excessive. The second analyzes and statistically evaluates the efficiency of the Tax Administration in effectively achieving the collection. And the third conceptualizes the importance of tax collection and its impact on the General Budget of the Nation to meet Public Expenditure.
