Abstract

An essential objective for any non-governmental organization is to make efficient use of available resources, this must be kept in mind because its financing comes mainly from donations and no goods or services that have a lucrative purpose are produced; taking into account the aforementioned, it can be said that each area that integrate an organization must outline its objectives and reach its proposed goals using as least amount of resources as is possible, but without leaving aside the quality of the results of its work; therefore in this document will be exposed a philosophy known as lean logistics, whose main objective is the reduction or elimination of waste, implementing this philosophy can contribute to a more efficient use of available resources and although this is mainly used in goods producer companies, will be evident how this can be applied to humanitarian demining organizations. This document will define and identify the types of waste that can be found in humanitarian demining NGO´s logistics processes, after having identified these wastes, it will proceed to analyze which lean methodologies can be applicable to reduce or eliminate them, the definition of each one and what is its main function.
