Se habla mucho y se ha escrito a la vez, sobre las diferentes razones del Desplazamiento Forzado en Colombia y no todos los estudiosos, analistas, tratadistas, investigadores e interesados se han puesto de acuerdo sobre el verdadero origen de este fenómeno, inclusive desde el contexto internacional y el nacional se observa una causa fundamental que ha originado el problema de violencia que vive Colombia, la posesión de la tierra. Desde la década de los años cincuenta e inclusive mucho antes, durante la misma colonización en la época prehispánica se produjo el primer gran desplazamiento forzado de los indígenas por parte de los españoles atraídos por el oro y las riquezas que se encontraban en el suelo colombiano, posteriormente a principios del siglo XX se continúan nuevamente movimientos de personas desplazadas, cuando se confundía y se disfrazaba la lucha partidista (liberales y conservadores) por el poder político y el control territorial.
