Efecto de las fibras de acero sobre el confinamiento de columnas de concreto

Abstract

En los últimos años se han planteado nuevos materiales de refuerzo del concreto para mejorar el desempeño sísmico de las estructuras de concreto reforzado. Entre estos materiales se encuentran las micro-fibras de acero, las cuales se pueden adicionar al concreto durante el proceso de mezclado para mejorar el desempeño a flexión, cortante, y el confinamiento de columnas sometidos a demandas sísmicas. En el artículo se presenta un estudio experimental y numérico sobre el confinamiento de columnas de concreto reforzadas con micro-fibras de acero. Las variables del estudio son la dosificación de las micro-fibras de acero, y la cuantía y configuración del refuerzo transversal convencional de las columnas. La resistencia a compresión del concreto fue de 14 MPa y la cuantía de refuerzo longitudinal de las columnas fue de 1.6%. Para definir la cuantía del refuerzo transversal se utilizaron los criterios establecidos en la NSR-10 para estructuras con capacidad de disipación de energía moderada y especial. Por tanto, se definieron dos separaciones para el refuerzo transversal, cada una de ellas con dos configuraciones diferentes. En el estudio se incluyeron dos dosificaciones de micro-fibra de acero (10 kg/m3 y 20kg/m3). En el programa experimental se incluyeron especímenes sin refuerzo longitudinal ni transversal, especímenes sólo con refuerzo longitudinal, especímenes con refuerzo longitudinal y transversal, y especímenes con refuerzo longitudinal, transversal y micro-fibras de acero. Las columnas de concreto se sometieron a cargas axiales monotónicas de compresión.

In recent years they have raised new concrete reinforcing materials to improve the seismic performance of reinforced concrete structures. Among these materials are the steel micro-fibers, which can be added to the concrete during the mixing process to improve the bending, shear and confinement performance of columns under seismic demands. This paper presents an experimental and numerical study on the confinement of concrete columns reinforced with steel micro-fibers. Variables of the study are the dosage of steel micro-fibers, and the steel ratio and configuration of conventional transverse reinforcement of columns. Compressive strength of concrete was 14 MPa and the steel ratio of longitudinal reinforcement of the columns was 1.6%. The criteria prescribed by NSR-10 for structures with moderate and special energy dissipation were used for defining the steel ratio of transverse reinforcement. Therefore, two values of spacing of the transverse reinforcement were defined, each of them having two different configurations. Two dosages of steel micro-fibers (10kg/m3 and 20 kg/m3) were included in the study. The experimental program included specimens without longitudinal or transverse reinforcement, specimens having longitudinal reinforcement only, specimens having longitudinal and transverse reinforcement, and specimens having longitudinal, transverse and steel micro-fibers. The concrete columns were subjected to monotonic axial compressive loads.
