Durante los últimos 25 años, Colombia ha tenido un fuerte interés para integrarse en la economía global. Por lo que ha desarrollado diferentes políticas para el comercio internacional como lo son los Tratados de libre comercio. Este artículo brinda un panorama sobre la relación comercial entre la Unión Europea y Colombia en términos generales, como ha sido su historia y evolución, la relación comercial bilateral que se ha mantenido antes de la entrada en vigencia de un acuerdo y de los resultados obtenidos hasta la fecha después de haberse firmado el TLC. Adicional, se resaltan algunos sectores en los que se tiene una oportunidad de exportación y, las consecuencias en cuanto a costos de no tener en cuenta estos tratados. Se revisa un ejemplo práctico real, en la importación de bicicletas, donde se observa como al tener en cuenta la ubicación de la partida arancelaria y relacionarla con el acuerdo, puede aprovecharse una reducción del arancel y esto al relacionarlo con el tema de reglas de origen (que es más un tema documental) pero que en ocasiones por desconocimiento del cómo aplicarlo hace que los procesos se vuelvan más extensos, o simplemente se incrementen dichos costos. Finalmente esta revisión se realiza con apoyo de publicaciones en revistas, en páginas que están enfocadas a mostrar las oportunidades y requisitos en temas de comercio internacional como lo es procolombia.

During the last 25 years, Colombia has had a strong interest in integrating into the global economy. So it has developed different policies for international trade such as the free trade treaties. This article provides an overview of the commercial relationship between the European Union and Colombia in general terms, as has been its history and evolution, the bilateral trade relationship that has been maintained before the entry into force of agreement and the results obtained until the date after having signed the FTA. Additionally, some sectors in which they have an export opportunity are highlighted, and the cost consequences of not taking these treaties into account. We review a real practical example in the importation of bicycles, where it is observed how taking into account the location of the tariff heading and relating it to the agreement can take advantage of the reduction of the tariff and the relationship with the subject of the rules (which is more a documentary subject), but sometimes because of the lack of knowledge about how to apply it, the processes become more extensive, or simply increase those costs.
