In recent years has been increased interest in understanding the behavior and effects produced by sulfate-reducing bacteria in different materials due to their involvement in corrosion processes in key industries such as oil. Sulfate-reducing bacteria are organisms that perform dissimilatory sulfate process, which occurs naturally in the sulfur cycle. The dissimilation process generates H2S as a byproduct, a substance that is not only corrosive, but also has effects on air pollutants and is involved in processes of deterioration in the quality of products like oil.
