Análisis del uso de aceite vegetal hidrotratado como biocarburante en ciclos combinados para generación termoeléctrica

Abstract

Este trabajo evalúa la viabilidad técnica y económica de una central de ciclo combinado alimentada con aceite vegetal hidrotratado (HVO), ubicada estratégicamente en Puerto de Palos (Huelva), junto a un futuro complejo industrial con capacidad para producir 500.000 toneladas anuales de HVO. Se ha diseñado una planta BraytonRankine con dos turbinas Ansaldo AE94.3A operando al 100% con HVO, y se ha simulado su comportamiento energético en el sofware thermoflex bajo diferentes datos climáticos y modos de operación. La configuración incorpora un sistema de cogeneración mediante extracción de vapor, cuya energía térmica se transfiere al proceso de producción de HVO, reduciendo el consumo de utilidades y mejorando la eficiencia energética del conjunto. Los resultados, en funcionamiento de diseño y en modo cogeneración, muestran una potencia bruta de 829 MW y una eficiencia global de la planta del 59,54 %. Además, el uso de HVO permite una reducción estimada de 1.280.000 toneladas equivalentes de CO₂ en huella de carbono respecto al uso de gas natural. El estudio demuestra el potencial de los ciclos combinados como soporte firme y eficiente en un sistema energético descarbonizado.
