Practicando la neurociencia

Abstract

La neurociencia es un campo enormemente vanguardista, que avanza incesantemente desde los últimos diez años, consiguiendo éxitos que son objeto de noticias en todos los medios de comunicación. Todos estos recientes descubrimientos, se deben a la inversión millonaria realizada por parte de la Unión Europea y los EE.UU. en proyectos como el Human Brain Project o el denominado Brain, los cuales persiguen conocer el funcionamiento del cerebro. Por ello, resulta primordial que todos los interesados en estos avances neurocientíficos puedan comprobar mediante unas prácticas dirigidas "ad hoc" los avances prácticos que ellos significan, utilizando la aportación de las nuevas técnicas que nos permiten el mapeo cerebral, acudiendo a la imagenología, con técnicas tan potentes como la resonancia magnética, la imagen por tensor de difusión, la tomografía por emisión de positrones, la electroencefalografía o la magnetoencefalografía, todas ellas, ya nos permiten hacernos una idea de cómo se integra la información en nuestro cerebro, se han derrumbado viejas teorías, se han creado otras nuevas, la ciencia avanza y las prácticas tan necesarias para comprender el funcionamiento cerebral se han de ir implementando a la luz de estos nuevos avances y técnicas al uso. Es pues un libro para practicar y comprender las diversas funciones de nuestro cerebro.
