Efecto de la dieta alta en grasas sobre las células de microglía

Abstract

El eje intestino-hígado-cerebro es una vía bidireccional de comunicación entre estos tres órganos. Alteraciones en la misma pueden causar patologías a cualquier nivel del eje. Un claro ejemplo son modificaciones en la microbiota intestinal, que tienen como consecuencia la producción de moléculas que afectan tanto al cerebro como al hígado. La esteatohepatitis no alcohólica (EHNA) es una patología asociada con la disbiosis intestinal, y puede ser inducida por una dieta alta en grasas y colesterol (HFHC). El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar el impacto de este tipo de dietas sobre las células de microglía. Para ello doce ratas fueron divididas en dos grupos: el primero sometido a una dieta estándar (NC) y el segundo a una dieta HFHC. Tras 14 semanas se extrajeron los cerebros de los animales y se obtuvieron secciones que posteriormente fueron teñidas mediante técnicas inmunocitoquímicas. Se cuantificó el número de células de microglía en seis regiones: cingulado, prelímbico, infralímbico, CA1, CA3 y giro dentado. Posteriormente se analizaron estadísticamente los resultados obtenidos mediante pruebas t de Student para muestras independientes. Se observa un aumento significativo del número de células en el grupo HFHC con respecto al NC en las regiones del prelímbico e infralímbico.
