Accesibilidad web de bibliotecas universitarias

Abstract

La accesibilidad web resulta fundamental para lograr una verdadera inclusión educativa, más si cabe dada la tendencia actual de aumentar tanto los contenidos como la formación online. El cumplimiento de las pautas de accesibilidad al contenido web, Web Content Accesibility Guidelines (WCAG) cobra especial relevancia para las personas con edad avanzada y/o diversidad funcional. La accesibilidad web permite que todas las personas puedan percibir, entender, navegar e interactuar con la Web (W3C, 2008) siendo en España exigida por ley para las administraciones públicas, para sitios web financiados total o parcialmente con fondos públicos y para las páginas de grandes empresas (UNE 139803:2012). La Convención sobre los Derechos de las Personas con Discapacidad estipula en el artículo 24.5 que “Los Estados Partes asegurarán que las personas con discapacidad tengan acceso general a la educación superior, la formación profesional, la educación para adultos y el aprendizaje durante toda la vida sin discriminación y en igualdad de condiciones con las demás”(ONU, 2007). El objetivo del trabajo reside en la evaluación de la accesibilidad web de las bibliotecas de las 10 primeras universidades españolas ubicadas en el ranking universitario Webometrics. El estudio revela el escaso cumplimiento en cuanto a normativa web de las bibliotecas universitarias españolas más prestigiosas de este ranking.
