Estimación de modelos de combustible basada en datos de sensores remotos

Abstract

Los modelos de combustible son uno de los elementos clave para explicar el comportamiento del fuego en los incendios forestales. En este trabajo se realiza la estimación de los modelos de combustible, desarrollados por Scott y Burgan (2005), basándose en información radiométrica de Landsat 8 y SPOT 5, LiDAR y la inclusión de información auxiliar como la altitud, pendiente y orientaciones. Para ello, se realiza una segmentación de la zona de estudio correspondiente a la provincia de Cuenca, mediante el Análisis Orientado a Objetos donde se definen conjuntos de pixeles homogéneos llamados objetos. Posteriormente se realiza la estimación de los modelos de combustible presentes mediante una clasificación supervisada donde se parte de un conocimiento previo del terreno y utilizando los árboles de decisión como algoritmo de clasificación. Se revisan y verifican los nodos conflictivos en los que el número de casos de aparición se reparten en varias categorías de modelos de combustible. Así, se procede a la validación de los modelos de combustible generados mediante simulador de incendios operacional WildFire Analyst. La capa de alta resolución generada mejora significativamente la cartografía de modelos de combustible existente para la zona de estudio, permitiendo mejorar la información sobre las características de los mismos, lo que resulta clave para la predicción del comportamiento del fuego, evaluación del riesgo de incendio o el éxito en las tareas de extinción.
