Un análisis de la transmisión intergeneracional del logro educativo en España

Abstract

El principal objetivo de este estudio es contribuir a la literatura sobre movilidad intergeneracional en España, atendiendo al actual contexto de crisis económica y prestando especial atención a los mecanismos mediante los que se transmite el logro educativo de generación en generación, por ser el sistema educativo, uno de los principales motores de la movilidad socioeconómica. Para ello se utilizan datos del módulo específico sobre transmisión intergeneracional de situaciones de dificultad económica de la Encuesta de Condiciones de Vida 2011. Mediante el uso de matrices de transición y el análisis de la movilidad educativa ascendente y descendente, se puede concluir que existe correlación entre el logro educativo de padres e hijos, su situación laboral e incluso entre el tipo de ocupación, lo que implicaría que existe un componente generacional en el estatus socioeconómico alcanzado por los individuos. Más concretamente, se puede afirmar que el logro educativo de los padres/madres está fuertemente relacionado con el logro de los hijos/as y que es uno de los principales mecanismos de transmisión del estatus socioeconómico.
