The funerary world of Roman Asturias includes a number of elements directly connected with life beyond the tomb.Astral representations, in particular the solar disc, are connected both with early life and life beyond the tomb; they signal the daily regeneration that the sun is responsible for, both for the living and the dead. Other motifs, like the inclusion of epitaphs in house-like frames or animal and vegetal representations (especially horses and palms) can be explained by the need to recover life and activity by means of the sun.
