In my work with families, I have met many parents who belittle their efforts, thinking that their parenting is insufficient. This has made me curios about what lied under these feelings. In this project have interwiewed five mothers. They have all asked for help from a family therapist, because they experience trouble in their everyday life in the family, how these ideals and expectations are challenged and how they want to display their own families. The five mothers tell about their experiences of being a family, about the gap between family ideals and the reality of their everyday life, and about different ways of displaying family. When trying to understand the mothers`thougts about displaying families, I pay special attention to social media, as the mothers all talked about this subject whit keen interest during yhe interwiews, also drawing boundaries against some way og displaying family.
