Abstract

Not least in the welfare area, there are increasingly expectations and claims that the recipients and users of research should have influence over and take part in the research process. The chapter discusses what the background for this development is and goes closer into what are the arguments for the development. Further, the question is asked who are defined as users and how participation is defined. The concept «co-production» is chosen as the heading for the book and the chapter. Therefore, space is used to relate the co-production concept to other concepts used to describe and discuss research where recipients and users are involved in the research process.
