La perdurabilidad del emprendimiento y el empleo en Cali

Abstract

La empresa es la principal fuente de empleo para las economías. Sin embargo, establecer la relación de creación de empleos, bien sea para las nuevas empresas o para las establecidas, es muy dispendioso debido a los múltiples factores, tanto internos como externos, que enfrentan en el día a día las organizaciones. Según Schumpeter (1939), aquellas empresas que no ofrecen nuevos productos o no aprovechan economías de escala corren el riesgo de estancarse, luego se contraen, y, finalmente, llegan hasta afrontar el cierre. De tal manera que una empresa para poder contribuir a la generación de nuevos empleos o de mantener los existentes debe innovar en sus productos o alcanzar economías de escala. Por lo tanto, la creación de nuevos empleos de la empresa dependerá, de alguna manera, de su productividad, claro está, de acuerdo al ciclo económico por el que atraviese, tal como lo contemplan Wengel, Ferreria, Restrepo y Suárez (2009).
