Abstract

This paper presents the results of a press analysis exercise about regional topics, environment and society; and argues on how press observatory requires certain categories for the analysis. In general, the paper shows arguments about the Colombian State weaknesses to counteract climate change and the lack of citizen conscience and mobilization. The methodology was based on documentary research, review and interpretation of written press: El Tiempo, El País and El Espectador. The information of 1440 cases was organized in a structured database divided into categories and built by the Press Observatory of the Centro Interdisciplinario de Estudios de la Región Pacífico Colombiana (Interdisciplinary Study Center of the Colombian Pacific Region). Results indicate the following hypothesis: The Colombian State is institutionally changeable and as creator of social and political order evidences lack of recognized cohesion, thus, the State cannot present itself as a legitimate reference to organize the Colombian society
