Insólita desnudez: figuraciones del cuerpo en la narrativa de Armonía Somers

Abstract

Se analiza la narrativa de la escritora uruguaya Armonía Somers (1914-1994), quien –según el crítico Ángel Rama (Aquí, cien años de raros, Montevideo, Arca, 1966)– “más tesoneramente representa el espíritu experimental, inconformista, subjetivo” de la Generación del 40, puesto que desde su primera novela La mujer desnuda (1950) hasta sus últimas producciones (Sólo los elefantes encuentran mandrágora, 1986; Muerte por alacrán, 1978) recrea un universo donde “todo es insólito, ajeno, desconcertante, repulsivo y a la vez increíblemente fascinante”. En efecto, se trata de una obra de gran complejidad formal que atenta contra la lógica realista de las causalidades y las derivaciones referenciales del relato en diversos niveles discursivos. En esta presentación, se analizan las distintas figuraciones del cuerpo actualizadas en su obra, con la hipótesis de que este es el espacio textual privilegiado en donde se pone en rica tensión dinámica la tradicional oposición entre Realismo y Fantástico, entre mundo real y fantasmagoría imaginaria, entre absurdo, marginalidad y locura.
