Abstract

[ES] Este Trabajo de Fin de Grado (TFG) se realizó bajo el objetivo general de evaluar cómo el cambio climático, mediante procesos de blanqueamiento, acidificación y elevación del nivel del mar, afecta a los arrecifes de coral. Para ello, la metodología se basó en una revisión bibliográfica sistemática, sobre la síntesis de estudios científicos recientes. Los resultados muestran que el incremento de la temperatura del agua está causando los blanqueamientos cada vez más frecuentes. Además, la acidificación está afectando negativamente la capacidad de los corales para realizar procesos de calcificación, vital para su crecimiento y desarrollo. La elevación del nivel del mar, está modificando las condiciones de irradiación solar para la fotosíntesis de las zooxantelas. Las conclusiones del estudio subrayan la urgencia de implementar medidas de conservación que integren la protección contra múltiples amenazas ambientales, fomentando la resiliencia de los arrecifes a través de la gestión de ecosistemas

[EN] This Final Degree Project (TFG) was carried out under the general objective of evaluating how climate change, through processes of bleaching, acidification and rising sea levels, affects coral reefs. To do this, the methodology was based on a systematic bibliographic review, on the synthesis of recent scientific studies. The results show that the increase in water temperature is causing more and more frequent bleaching. In addition, acidification is negatively affecting the ability of corals to carry out calcification processes, vital for their growth and development. The rise in sea level is modifying the solar irradiation conditions for the photosynthesis of zooxanthellae. The study's conclusions underscore the urgency of implementing conservation measures that integrate protection against multiple environmental threats, fostering reef resilience through ecosystem management
