[EN] The General Archive of the Provincial Council of Tarragona holds the documentary collection of the Tarragona Provincial Charity House, a charitable establishment that sheltered and housed children, women and elderly people in extreme poverty during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The scarce documentary treatment that has been carried out on this documentary collection due to its restricted nature and the fear of dealing with a harsh reality that existed with the most disadvantaged people in society, has meant that the corresponding archival techniques for its management have not been applied. Through the analysis of the documentation, the knowledge of the producer, the application of the principles of provenance and its derivatives and the elaboration of the corresponding archival instruments, the documentary collection of the institution of great patrimonial value and of great importance for society has been organized and described.

[ES] El Archivo General de la Diputación de Tarragona custodia el fondo documental de la Casa de la Beneficencia Provincial de Tarragona, un establecimiento benéfico que acogió y albergo a niños, mujeres y ancianos en situación de pobreza extrema durante los siglos XIX y XX. El escaso tratamiento documental que se ha realizado en este fondo documental por su carácter restringido y por el temor de abordar una realidad dura que existió con las personas más desfavorecidas de la sociedad, ha hecho que no se hayan aplicado las técnicas archivísticas correspondientes para su gestión. Mediante el análisis de la documentación, el conocimiento del productor, la aplicación del principio de procedencia y sus derivados y elaborando los instrumentos archivísticos correspondientes, se ha organizado y descrito el fondo documental de la institución de gran valor patrimonial y de gran importancia para la sociedad.
