Abstract

[EN] The Spanish Roma community has very different employment rates compared to the rest of the population, so we want to analyse the main barriers that the Roma community encounters when trying to access the labour market and try to accept or reject the hypotheses put forward, i.e. employment discrimination and poor training within the community, as the main factors of exclusion from the labour market. This study is focused on giving a voice to the Roma community itself and trying to address their demands, since, after more than 40 years of attempts by public administrations to remedy this situation, the problem continues to persist and, in some aspects, has even worsened. In addition, this work puts into perspective the difficult situation of Roma women, since this segment of the population has more disparate employment indicators than their male counterparts.
