Abstract

El presente estudio surge con la finalidad de desarrollar un programa de rehabilitación integral en el Hospital San Jorge de Huesca dirigido a pacientes con Enfermedad de Steinert o distrofia miotónica tipo 1 (DM-1). Objetivo, describir las alteraciones neuropsicológicas que presentan los pacientes con DM-1 y determinar los factores que provocan mayor repercusión en el deterioro de su calidad de vida. Pacientes y métodos, se seleccionó una muestra de 11 pacientes con diagnóstico de DM-1 confirmada genéticamente en seguimiento en la Unidad de Enfermedades Neuromusculares del Hospital San Jorge (Huesca). Se excluyeron aquellos pacientes con DM-1 congénita o que presentaron otras condiciones que pudieran provocar deterioro cognitivo. Se evaluó el grado de afectación muscular según la Muscular Impairment Rate Scale (MIRS), la presencia de alteraciones cognitivas y emocionales mediante una batería neuropsicológica específicamente diseñada para el estudio y la calidad de vida a través del cuestionario INQoL.

El present estudi sorgeix amb la finalitat de desenvolupar un programa de rehabilitació integral a l'Hospital Sant Jordi d'Osca dirigit a pacients amb Malaltia de Steinert o distròfia miotònica tipus 1 (DM-1). Objectiu, descriure les alteracions neuropsicològiques que presenten els pacients amb DM-1 i determinar els factors que provoquen major repercussió en la deterioració de la seva qualitat de vida. Pacients i mètodes, es va seleccionar una mostra d'11 pacients amb diagnòstic de DM-1 confirmada genèticament en seguiment en la Unitat de Malalties Neuromusculars de l'Hospital Sant Jordi (Osca). Es van excloure aquells pacients amb DM-1 congènita o que van presentar altres condicions que poguessin provocar deterioració cognitiva. Es va avaluar el grau d'afectació muscular segons la Muscular Impairment Rate Scale (MIRS), la presència d'alteracions cognitives i emocionals mitjançant una bateria neuropsicològica específicament dissenyada per a l'estudi i la qualitat de vida a través del qüestionari INQoL.

This study appears with the aim of developing a full rehabilitation program in San Jorge Hospital in Huesca addressed to patients affected by Steinert's Disease also known as myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM-1). The objective, to describe which are the neuropsychological impairments in DM-1 patients and to determine the factors of major impact in their quality of life. Patients and methods, a sample of 11 patients diagnosed with genetically confirmed DM-1 currently monitored in San Jorge Hospital in Huesca was selected. Some patients affected by congenital DM-1 or other conditions which could cause cognitive deficit were excluded. Aspects evaluated were: degree of muscular affectation according to Muscular Impairment Rate Scale (MIRS), presence of cognitive and emotional impairments using a neuropsychological test battery specifically designed for the study and the quality of life through the INQoL test.
